3v3.dev Terms of Service
Draft for solicitor review. This version is published so that our solicitor can check it here. It may change before it is final.
Last updated .
In plain words
- Your boards are yours. You own everything you design on 3v3.dev. We claim nothing.
- We are a tool, not a guarantee. Our checks help you catch mistakes. They do not promise your board works.
- Check before you order. You decide what gets made, and you are responsible for it.
- Your boards stay private. Nobody sees them unless you share them, send us a copy with a support request, or let a person from 3V3 review one for a time you choose (see the Privacy notice). Our automated checks run over stored boards so we can fix 3v3.dev, and no human looks at them.
- Cancel any time. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. After that your boards stay yours to open and export.
- Your data. Our Privacy notice says what we hold, why, for how long, and who else sees it.
- Talk to us at info@3v3.dev.
The full terms below are what count if anything is unclear.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
3v3.dev is a printed circuit board design service, based in the UK ("3v3.dev", "we", "us"). You can reach us at info@3v3.dev.
These terms apply when you use the 3v3.dev website, the editor, the API, and any agent you connect to them (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
If we change these terms, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can close your account before then.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 to use 3v3.dev. If you are under 18, you need the consent of a parent or guardian.
When you create an account, you confirm that you are at least 16.
An account is for one person. Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it happens because of a failure on our side.
If you use 3v3.dev for a business, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it.
3. Your boards are yours
You own all intellectual property in your designs: schematics, layouts, files, exports and anything else you create with the service ("your boards"). We claim no ownership of them, and we gain no rights to them beyond those in this section.
So that the service can work, you give us a limited permission to store, copy, process, render and back up your boards. That permission covers running the service for you and nothing else. It ends when you delete a board or close your account, apart from backups, which expire in the normal course.
We never publish your boards or show them to anyone else unless you choose to share them, for example through a share link or a watch page.
You can export your boards at any time, and delete them at any time.
4. How we use your boards
We use your boards only to provide the service to you and to keep 3v3.dev working.
Nobody sees them unless you share them, send us a copy with a support request, or let a person from 3V3 review one for a time you choose (see the Privacy notice).
That includes automated checks run over stored boards, for example to find and fix faults in our software. These checks are carried out by software. No human sees your boards in the process, and the results we keep are counts and error codes, not your designs.
We do not sell your boards. We do not use them to train AI models for anyone else.
5. What 3v3.dev is, and what it is not
3v3.dev is a design tool with AI assistance. It includes automated checks such as design rule checks, electrical rule checks and Gerber file checks. These checks are aids. They can miss problems, and passing them does not mean a board will work, is safe, or meets any standard.
You are responsible for reviewing your design and its manufacturing files before you have anything made, and for making sure your product meets any laws and standards that apply to it.
6. Our liability
We provide the service "as is". We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but we do not promise it will be error-free or always available.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- a board or product that does not work, or works differently from what you intended;
- the cost of manufacturing, components, assembly or rework;
- damage caused by a board or product made from your design;
- loss of profit, revenue, business, data or opportunity;
- any indirect or consequential loss.
Our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and, if you are a consumer, your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
7. Agents and the API
You can connect AI agents and other software to 3v3.dev through our API and keys you create. Anything an agent does with your key counts as your action under these terms. Keep your keys private, and revoke any key you no longer trust.
We may set fair limits on how much the API can be used, so that the service stays fast for everyone.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use 3v3.dev:
- to design anything whose making, sale or use is unlawful where you are;
- to infringe anyone else's intellectual property;
- to attack, overload, probe or disrupt the service or other users;
- to get around limits or security, or to access accounts or data that are not yours.
9. Parts, libraries and manufacturers
Component footprints and libraries in the service come from several sources, each under its own licence. Where a licence applies, you must follow it. They are listed on our footprint libraries page.
If you order boards from a manufacturer, including through a link or export from 3v3.dev, that order is between you and the manufacturer, under their terms.
10. Plans and payment
A new account starts on the Free plan: you do not need a card and there is no trial. Free makes boards of up to 4 copper layers and up to 20 new boards a month, with the 3v3.dev mark on the board. Plus ($15 a month or $150 a year) has no limit on layers or boards, and keeps the mark on the board. Pro ($30 a month or $300 a year) has no limits and lets you remove the mark. Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Prices are in US dollars before tax, and tax is added where it applies. If you pay from the UK we show the price in pounds, converted from dollars, and it includes VAT. Prices are shown before you pay. The Founding Member price of £150 a year, offered until 31 December 2026, stays the same for as long as you stay.
If your subscription ends or is cancelled, your account goes back to the Free plan: your boards stay yours to open, export and share, and you can carry on designing within the Free plan's limits.
Your subscription renews automatically each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account settings. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
We do not refund part periods. If you are a consumer in the UK, you also have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of first paying. If you ask us to start the service straight away and then cancel within those 14 days, we may keep a fair amount for the time you used.
We will tell you at least 30 days before any price change takes effect.
11. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy notice explains what we hold, why, for how long, and who else sees it. The app sets one cookie to keep you signed in and, only while you sign in with Kinde, a second one that lasts ten minutes. If you answer our question about counting visits, the site and the app keep your answer in a cookie. We use no analytics or advertising cookies.
We send you product news by email only if you ask for it, when you sign up or in Account, and you can stop it there at any time.
12. Suspension and closing an account
You can delete your account at any time in Account.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or is not paid for. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
Until an account is deleted, you can export your boards from it, including while it is read-only. When an account is deleted, its boards are deleted with it, apart from backups, which expire as our Privacy notice says.
13. Changes to the service
We improve 3v3.dev all the time, so features will change. If we remove something important that you pay for, we will tell you in advance.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go only to the courts of the United Kingdom: the courts of England and Wales or, if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, the courts where you live.
